Oncogene
Oncogene is a long-running cancer biology journal from the Nature stable. It publishes molecular and cellular research on how cancers arise, spread and resist treatment, and is read mainly by laboratory cancer researchers.
Overview
Oncogene was launched in 1987 by the Scientific and Medical Division of Macmillan Press in Basingstoke and has been published by Nature Publishing Group, now Springer Nature, since the early 2000s. The journal states that it aims to make substantial advances in knowledge of the processes that contribute to cancer, with a remit that runs from fundamental cellular and molecular biology, including resistance to cancer therapies and the drivers of metastatic spread, through to translational, applied and clinical research, including early and late phase trials with biological endpoints. It appears 50 times a year and, according to the NLM Catalog, some issues each year are published under the title Oncogene reviews. Access is hybrid: the journal is sold by subscription and also offers open access publication with article fees.
