In 154 people having drug treatment before breast cancer surgery, a whole-genome blood test for tumour DNA was negative after treatment in everyone whose tumour had fully disappeared, and staying positive went with cancer left at surgery.
A prospective observational study of 154 patients with stage I-III breast cancer of all subtypes, tested at baseline, throughout neoadjuvant therapy and after surgery with a whole-genome sequencing-based residual disease assay tracking up to 1,000 variants per patient. Myriad Genetics announced the publication on 23 June 2026 as evidence for the clinical validity of its Precise MRD test.
Frequent, very sensitive blood tests for tumour DNA during treatment before surgery track how well the treatment is working; the authors see a chance to do less for early responders and more for those whose ctDNA persists, which trials would need to test.
