Overview
D. Wade Clapp is Interim Director of the Indiana University Melvin and Bren Simon Comprehensive Cancer Center, Indiana's NCI-designated comprehensive cancer centre, and is listed first on the centre's Executive Committee; his centre biography records the interim directorship as of June 2026. He is Associate Dean for Cancer Research, Distinguished Professor and H.H. Gregg Professor of Oncology at Indiana University School of Medicine, with professorships in Pediatrics, Microbiology and Immunology, Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, and Medical and Molecular Genetics. His laboratory studies the molecular basis of genetic conditions that predispose to cancer, in particular neurofibromatosis type 1 and Fanconi anaemia, and his translational work contributed to the first drugs for plexiform neurofibromas to reach the clinic, including selumetinib. He was elected to the National Academy of Medicine in 2020.
