Hu Junbo

Hu Junbo (胡俊波) is Deputy Party Secretary and President (院长) of Tongji Hospital of Tongji Medical College, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, in Wuhan, and Dean of its Second Clinical College; the hospital's leadership page says he presides over the hospital's administrative work and oversees discipline building, performance management and audit. He is a chief physician and Level 2 professor specialising in gastrointestinal surgery, a doctoral supervisor and recipient of a State Council special allowance, has led three major national research projects, published around 200 papers including in Cell and Nature Communications, and won a first-class Hubei Provincial Science and Technology Progress Award in 2024; his appointment was announced in December 2023. Tongji Hospital, founded in 1900 by the German physician Erich Paulun, is a Grade A tertiary teaching hospital with about 2,000 beds and 40 national key clinical specialties, ranked sixth nationally in the Fudan China Hospital Ranking.
