Overview
Prashant Mathur leads the ICMR institute in Bengaluru that coordinates the National Cancer Registry Programme and other noncommunicable disease registries. He is first author of Cancer Statistics, 2020: Report From National Cancer Registry Programme, India (JCO Global Oncology), which used 28 population-based and 58 hospital-based registries to project 1,392,179 cancers in 2020 and documented that most breast, cervical and head and neck cancers present at a locally advanced stage, and a senior author of the 2022 estimates and 2025 projections.
