Kidwai Memorial Institute of Oncology

Kidwai Memorial Institute of Oncology was founded in 1973 in Bengaluru, named after Rafi Ahmed Kidwai, and is an autonomous institute of the Government of Karnataka and a Regional Cancer Centre under India's National Cancer Control Programme. It provides surgical, medical, radiation and paediatric oncology to a predominantly poor population, hosts the Bangalore population-based cancer registry (one of India's oldest), and trains a large cohort of oncology specialists. Kidwai participates in Indian cooperative trials, hosts hereditary cancer and tobacco cessation clinics, and has expanded with new radiotherapy machines and peripheral cancer centres across the state.
