Overview
Murray Brunt (Keele University) was chief investigator of FAST-Forward, the UK trial of 4,000 women showing that 26 Gy in five fractions over one week is non-inferior to 40 Gy in 15 fractions for local recurrence and normal tissue effects after breast conservation, a result adopted rapidly during the COVID-19 pandemic and now standard in many countries. He also led the FAST trial of five-fraction schedules over five weeks.
