Physicist who invented the MR-linac, letting radiotherapy see and adapt to the tumour in real time.
Overview
Bas Raaymakers conceived and led the development of the integrated MRI and linear accelerator at UMC Utrecht in collaboration with Elekta and Philips, treating the first patients on a high-field MR-linac in 2017 and enabling daily adaptive radiotherapy with soft-tissue visibility. He leads the MR-Linac Consortium's physics programme and works on real-time tumour tracking.
