Naoto T. Ueno
Breast cancer physician-scientist who directs the University of Hawai'i Cancer Center, the NCI-designated cancer centre in Honolulu.
Overview
Naoto T. Ueno, MD, PhD, FACP, is Director of the University of Hawai'i Cancer Center and a full member of its Cancer Biology Program, where his focus is translational and clinical research. He is Professor at the cancer centre and in the Department of Medicine of the John A. Burns School of Medicine, University of Hawai'i at Manoa. He trained in medicine at Wakayama Medical College in Japan, completed a PhD in cancer biology at the University of Texas Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences, an internal medicine residency at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center and fellowships in medical oncology and blood and marrow transplantation at MD Anderson Cancer Center. His research centres on triple-negative and inflammatory breast cancer and the tumour microenvironment, and he has led more than 50 clinical trials.
