Prudence A. Francis
Led SOFT and TEXT, the trials that showed ovarian suppression plus exemestane helps young women with breast cancer.
Overview
Prudence Francis chaired the IBCSG SOFT trial and co-led the joint SOFT/TEXT analysis showing that adding ovarian function suppression to tamoxifen, or using it with exemestane, reduces recurrence and improves survival in premenopausal HR-positive breast cancer. The results set the standard for adjuvant endocrine therapy in younger women. She leads breast medical oncology at Peter Mac and Breast Cancer Trials studies in Australia and New Zealand.
