Richard Barakat, MD, MBA, is Physician-in-Chief and Executive Director of the Northwell Cancer Institute, the cancer programme of Northwell Health, which spans hospitals and cancer centres across New York and Connecticut. In that capacity he announced the September 2026 appointment of a system director of central nervous system cancer and described the institute's aim of connecting laboratory discovery with patient care. Institute leadership also includes a deputy physician-in-chief and director of medical oncology.
