Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF)

A childhood-cancer charity started by a four-year-old patient's lemonade stand that now funds hundreds of grants and runs an open-science data lab for paediatric cancer genomics.

Founded 2005 after Alexandra Scott's fundraising (she died of neuroblastoma in 2004 at age 8). ALSF has awarded >$300 million in grants, runs the Childhood Cancer Data Lab (Philadelphia) whose refine.bio harmonises public transcriptomic data and whose OpenPBTA/OpenPedCan atlas underpins paediatric brain tumour research, funds the Crazy 8 initiative for the hardest paediatric cancers, and supports families' travel to treatment. Partner of the Children's Oncology Group and CHOP.
