Active Biotech
Active Biotech is a Swedish immunomodulator company whose tasquinimod reached phase 3 in prostate cancer without success and is now tested in myeloma.
Overview
Active Biotech, founded in Lund in 1984 and listed in Stockholm, develops immunomodulatory small molecules. Tasquinimod, an oral S100A9 inhibitor, was taken through phase 3 in metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer with Ipsen; it slowed radiographic progression but did not extend survival, and the programme has since moved to multiple myeloma and myelofibrosis. Its laquinimod programme sits in autoimmune disease. ClinicalTrials.gov lists Active Biotech as lead sponsor of phase 3 cancer trials.
