Aeterna Zentaris
Aeterna Zentaris is a Frankfurt-based biotech whose oncology programmes, including the alkylphospholipid perifosine and the LHRH antagonist ozarelix, went through phase 3 trials it led; its approved product is a growth hormone deficiency test.
Overview
Aeterna Zentaris, headquartered in Frankfurt am Main and listed in Toronto and on Nasdaq, developed cancer drug candidates including perifosine (tested in phase 3 in multiple myeloma and colorectal cancer) and zoptarelin doxorubicin (a doxorubicin-LHRH conjugate tested in endometrial cancer), none of which reached approval. Its marketed product, macimorelin, is a diagnostic for adult growth hormone deficiency. It appears on ClinicalTrials.gov as lead sponsor of phase 3 cancer trials.
