Arovella Therapeutics makes ready-made cell therapies from donor immune cells called iNKT cells, engineered to find cancer cells. Its first product, ALA-101, is in an early trial in people with lymphoma or leukaemia that carry the marker CD19.
Arovella Therapeutics Limited (ASX: ALA) is an Australian company with a physical base at the Jumar Bioincubator in Melbourne. It engineers invariant natural killer T (iNKT) cells from healthy donors to carry a chimeric antigen receptor, giving an allogeneic, off-the-shelf product; the company says iNKT cells can also recognise lipid-bound CD1d through their invariant T cell receptor and kill through the NKG2D pathway. ALA-101 is a CD19-directed CAR-iNKT therapy for CD19-positive B-cell lymphomas and leukaemias, and ALA-105 is a Claudin 18.2-directed CAR-iNKT programme aimed at solid tumours. Its first registered cancer trial, NCT07518329, a phase 1 dose-escalation and expansion study of a single infusion of ALA-101 after fludarabine and cyclophosphamide conditioning at Australian sites, was posted on ClinicalTrials.gov in April 2026.
