Intas Pharmaceuticals (Accord Healthcare)
A privately held Ahmedabad company whose European arm, Accord Healthcare, is one of the largest suppliers of generic chemotherapy and supportive-care biosimilars to European hospitals.
Overview
Intas was founded in 1977 by Hasmukh Chudgar and incorporated in 1985; it operates 22 manufacturing plants and sells in more than 100 countries, with revenue heading toward 24,000 crore rupees. Its Biologics Unit was the first Indian company to receive EU GMP certification (April 2007), and its London-based subsidiary Accord Healthcare markets generics and biosimilars across Europe and North America, including the pegfilgrastim biosimilar Pelgraz (EMA authorisation 21 September 2018) used to prevent chemotherapy-induced neutropenia. Accord's injectable oncology generics are a staple of European hospital pharmacies.
