Kheiron Medical Technologies
Kheiron built Mia, an artificial intelligence system that reads screening mammograms so that one radiologist plus the software can match the quality of two human readers. RadNet's DeepHealth unit bought the London company in 2024.
Overview
Kheiron Medical Technologies, founded in London in 2016, developed Mia (Mammography Intelligent Assessment), a deep-learning system for breast screening that can act as an independent second reader, a concurrent reader or a triage tool, aiming to deliver double-reading quality with a single human reader. Mia received CE marking in 2019, won the UK AI in Health and Care Award in 2020 and was deployed in what the company describes as the EU and UK's first prospective evaluation of a breast screening AI system. On 22 October 2024 DeepHealth, RadNet's wholly owned AI subsidiary, announced it had acquired Kheiron; financial terms were not disclosed. Kheiron's technology has since been folded into DeepHealth's SmartMammo breast screening product, and the former kheironmed.com domain redirects to DeepHealth.
