Olympus is the world's largest maker of flexible endoscopes, the gastroscopes, colonoscopes, bronchoscopes and endoscopic ultrasound systems through which most gut and lung cancers are first seen and biopsied.
Overview
Olympus, founded in Tokyo in 1919, refocused on medical technology in the 2020s after selling its camera business. It supplies the majority of the world's gastrointestinal endoscopes, the EVIS X1 platform with narrow-band imaging and AI detection, EU-ME3 endoscopic ultrasound processors and echoendoscopes, EBUS bronchoscopes, the EndoCapsule small-bowel capsule and Visera surgical imaging with infrared fluorescence.
