An experimental PET scan from Shanghai that shows TROP2 in breast cancer, and showed that the amount of TROP2 changes with treatment.
[68Ga]Ga-NOTA-T4 was studied at Huashan Hospital, Fudan University, in 42 patients with HER2-negative breast cancer imaged between September 2023 and March 2025 (Liu et al., European Journal of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging 2026), 27 of whom also had FDG PET. It identified patients and metastatic lesions about as well as FDG. Uptake differed with prior treatment: in luminal B disease, treated patients had higher uptake than untreated ones (maximum standardised uptake value 5.20 against 3.36, p = 0.008), while in triple-negative disease treated patients had lower uptake (3.02 against 7.63, p = 0.008). That is direct imaging evidence that TROP2 expression is not fixed and can move with therapy. A separate registered study at RenJi Hospital, NCT06851663, lists [68Ga]Ga-NOTA-T4 among its tracers.
A TROP2-targeting tracer labelled with gallium-68, imaged by PET to show TROP2 expression across all lesions. Connects to TROP2.
