A pair of tests on a thyroid nodule needle sample, one reading DNA and RNA fusions and one reading small regulatory RNAs, to judge whether an uncertain nodule is likely to be cancer.
Interpace Biosciences describes ThyGeNEXT as a DNA mutation panel plus an RNA fusion panel (ALK, BRAF, NTRK, PPARG, RET, THADA) and mRNA markers (NKX2-1, PAX8, TBP, USP33), billed under PLA code 0245U, "mutation analysis of 10 genes and 37 RNA fusions and expression of 4 mRNA markers"; ThyraMIR v2 "analyzes microRNA signatures". In a multicentre study of indeterminate nodules the combined test had 95 per cent sensitivity, 90 per cent specificity, a 97 per cent negative predictive value and a 75 per cent positive predictive value (Lupo 2020).
ThyGeNEXT sequences DNA mutations, RNA fusions and four mRNA markers; ThyraMIR v2 measures a microRNA signature; together they classify an indeterminate thyroid nodule.
