A Mumbai cancer charity founded in 1969 that supports poorer patients through treatment, screening, counselling, rehabilitation and an HPV vaccination programme.
Cancer Patients Aid Association was established in 1969 by Y. K. Sapru, beginning as a group of friends raising money for a child with cancer. It works on what it calls Total Management of Cancer: awareness, early detection, support for treatment, guidance and counselling, rehabilitation, research and advocacy, with its main concern the needs of poor patients who cannot afford treatment.
CPAA has offices in Mumbai, New Delhi and Pune, a cancer prevention and research unit, and an Eliminate Cervical Cancer programme of HPV vaccination. Its volunteers work with Tata Memorial Hospital, which has honoured them for their service.
