Manitoba's provincial cancer agency, responsible for cancer and blood disorder services across the province, with its own research institute in Winnipeg.
Overview
CancerCare Manitoba is the provincial cancer authority responsible for setting strategic priorities and long-term planning for cancer and blood disorders in Manitoba, delivering prevention, screening, treatment, supportive and end-of-life care, and radiation protection across the province. Its main site at 675 McDermot Avenue in Winnipeg houses chemotherapy, radiation treatment, patient support services and the Paul Albrechtsen Research Institute; the Western Manitoba Cancer Centre in Brandon, run with Prairie Mountain Health, provides radiotherapy and chemotherapy closer to home. It is funded by Manitoba Health and supported by the CancerCare Manitoba Foundation, and is affiliated with the University of Manitoba.
