Canadian Cancer Society
Canada's national cancer charity and largest charitable funder of cancer research, which also core-funds the Canadian Cancer Trials Group.
Founded in 1938, the Canadian Cancer Society funds research through competitive grants and provides core support to the Canadian Cancer Trials Group at Queen's University, the group behind the CHALLENGE exercise trial and MA.17. It merged with the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation in 2017 and with Prostate Cancer Canada in 2020, publishes the Canadian Cancer Statistics reports with Statistics Canada and the Public Health Agency of Canada, runs a national helpline and lodges for patients travelling to treatment, and advocates on tobacco, screening and drug access. Its Cancer Information Service is bilingual and free.
