Chris O'Brien Lifehouse
Sydney's not-for-profit comprehensive cancer hospital, founded in memory of head and neck surgeon Chris O'Brien and integrated with Royal Prince Alfred and the University of Sydney.
Chris O'Brien Lifehouse opened in Camperdown in 2013, realising the vision of Professor Chris O'Brien, a head and neck surgeon who died of glioblastoma in 2009, for a single integrated cancer hospital on the Royal Prince Alfred campus. It combines surgical, medical and radiation oncology, one of Australia's largest head and neck cancer units and the Sydney Head and Neck Cancer Institute, sarcoma and gynaecological oncology, a phase 1 unit, and integrative and supportive care under one roof, with research through the University of Sydney and the Melanoma Institute Australia next door. Lifehouse has been an early Australian adopter of robotic surgery, MR-guided radiotherapy and theranostics.
