Sahlgrenska University Hospital is one of the largest hospitals in northern Europe and the cancer centre for the Västra Götaland region. The Sahlgrenska Center for Cancer Research at the University of Gothenburg hosts groups including Jonas Nilsson's on patient-derived melanoma models and immunotherapy, Eva Forssell-Aronsson's on radionuclide therapy dosimetry and Göran Landberg's on breast cancer microenvironment, and the Queen Silvia Children's Hospital is a national paediatric oncology centre. The hospital runs regional radiotherapy, surgical oncology including high-volume colorectal and oesophageal surgery, and haematology with CAR-T, and contributes to Swedish quality registers used in outcomes research.
