Osaka International Cancer Institute

The Osaka International Cancer Institute traces its history to the Osaka Adult Disease Center founded in 1959 and moved into a new dedicated cancer hospital in central Osaka in 2017. It is a designated prefectural cancer centre with high surgical volumes in gastric, oesophageal, colorectal, hepatobiliary and lung cancer, strong endoscopy (early gastric cancer ESD), and a research institute covering cancer epidemiology, molecular pathology and immunology. The institute runs the long-established Osaka Cancer Registry, one of Japan's most complete population-based registries, and participates in JCOG, WJOG and international registration trials. Patients have access to a phase 1 unit and genomic profiling under Japan's national cancer genome medicine programme.
