The first published national count from Iran's population-based cancer registry: 112,131 new cancers registered in 2014, with stomach cancer commonest in men and breast cancer in women.
The first report of the Iranian National Population-based Cancer Registry, for 2014. Iran's population that year was 76,639,000; the registry covered 30 of 31 provinces (98% of the population) and registered only malignant new primary tumours, from pathology centres, hospitals and death registries, with quality checks and analysis in CanReg-5. Age-standardised rates per 100,000 were reported nationally and by province.
It is the first published national count from the population-based registry. It places Iran as a medium-risk country with a different order of common cancers from the world average.
