Keio University Hospital

Keio University Hospital, opened in 1920, is one of Japan's core hospitals for cancer genome medicine and a leader in gastrointestinal cancer surgery: Yuko Kitagawa's department is a JCOG oesophageal cancer study group leader and pioneered sentinel node navigation surgery in the upper GI tract. Keio's Cancer Center integrates the PleSSision genomic profiling programme, one of the first hospital-based comprehensive genomic tests in Japan, with molecular tumour boards, and Keio researchers have contributed to organoid biobanks of colorectal cancer, haematological malignancy research and cancer immunology. Patients can access early-phase trials, robotic surgery and precision oncology through the Keio Cancer Center.
