A patient-run network that connects chronic myeloid leukaemia (CML) patient organisations in 96 countries and trains patient advocates.
The CML Advocates Network connects 131 patient organisations in 96 countries, according to its own page. It was first discussed in 2005 at the fourth New Horizons conference for CML and GIST patient groups in Dublin, started by patient leaders from Germany, Israel, the Czech Republic and the UK, and its website began in 2007. It is run independently by patients, led by a steering committee of nine advocates from all six world regions with Sarunas Narbutas as chairman, and hosted by the Leukemia Patient Advocates Foundation in Bern. It runs a stopping-treatment resource centre, a global leukaemia patient experience survey and a blood cancer patient advocates academy.
