Deutsches Netzwerk für Personalisierte Medizin

The Deutsches Netzwerk für Personalisierte Medizin describes itself as a cooperation of 26 German university hospitals building Zentren für Personalisierte Medizin (ZPM) alongside the existing centres in Freiburg, Heidelberg, Tübingen and Ulm; its centre list names 27 sites. The oldest constituent, the ZPM in Tübingen, was founded in 2015 and has been named in the Baden-Württemberg hospital plan since November 2019; the Charité has run a molecular tumour conference since 2016. Its stated purpose is transparent and standardised routes of access to personalised medicine, regional networks around each centre, and the linking of data holdings for care and research. The mechanism at each site is the molecular tumour board: an interdisciplinary case conference that analyses the molecular profile and issues a molecularly directed treatment recommendation, which the referring doctor then delivers.

Section 64e SGB V names the DNPM, the nNGM, the German Consortium for Hereditary Breast and Ovarian Cancer, the DKTK and the NCT as the networked oncology centres that may take part in the national model project on genome sequencing, so the network now has a statutory role. The same statute's contract cuts the other way too: patients already diagnosed through a DNPM centre are in principle excluded from the model project, which is how Germany avoids paying twice for the same sequencing.
