A US brain tumour charity that holds 5K run and walk events to raise money for clinical research, and runs Brains for the Cure, a free information and support site for patients and carers.
Head for the Cure states its mission as inspiring hope for people with brain cancer, their families and carers. Its mission page says it raises money through 5K run and walk events in US cities and other campaigns to support clinical research and patient programmes at local brain tumour clinics and foundations, and nationally at the Brain Tumor Trials Collaborative; it also supports legislation on clinical research and access to care. Brains for the Cure, listed by the National Cancer Institute as a partner of its NCI-CONNECT rare brain and spine tumour network, is a programme of the foundation: its site (now titled Path to Hope) offers a questionnaire that returns personalised resources, monthly online support groups for patients, carers and bereaved carers, and a limited financial assistance programme for people with primary malignant brain tumours. The IRS record places Head for the Cure in Kansas City, Missouri, with tax exemption issued in July 2007.
