King Hussein Cancer Center

The King Hussein Cancer Center in Amman was reorganised in 2001 from the Al-Amal Center under the King Hussein Cancer Foundation and has become the reference cancer centre for Jordan and for patients from across the Middle East, treating adults and children. It was the first cancer centre outside the United States to earn Joint Commission International disease-specific accreditation for oncology, has one of the region's largest paediatric oncology and bone marrow transplant programmes with St. Jude affiliation, and runs a hereditary cancer clinic, a phase 1 unit, PET-CT and radioligand therapy, and Jordan's tobacco control research. KHCC has led regional cooperative research through its Office of Scientific Affairs and the Jordan Cancer Registry, and cares for large numbers of refugees and patients funded by charity.
