Marie Curie

aka Marie Curie UK, Marie Curie Cancer Care

The UK's leading end-of-life charity, running hospices and home nursing for people with terminal illness and funding palliative care research.

Founded in 1948 as the Marie Curie Memorial Foundation, the charity provides hospice care and community nursing to people dying at home, originally for cancer and now for all terminal illnesses, and runs a free support line and information service. It is the largest charitable funder of palliative and end-of-life care research in the UK, supporting the Marie Curie Palliative Care Research Centres at Cardiff, UCL and elsewhere, and it campaigns on access to palliative care, bereavement support and dying well. Its Great Daffodil Appeal is its main fundraiser. Marie Curie nurses and hospices care for tens of thousands of people each year.
