Fred & Pamela Buffett Cancer Center

aka UNMC Eppley Cancer Center, Nebraska Medicine cancer center

Nebraska's NCI-designated centre, a longstanding leader in lymphoma classification and transplant and in pancreatic cancer early detection research.

The Fred & Pamela Buffett Cancer Center, whose research and hospital tower opened in Omaha in 2017, is the NCI-designated centre of the University of Nebraska Medical Center and Nebraska Medicine, descended from the Eppley Institute (1961). James Armitage and the Nebraska Lymphoma Study Group shaped lymphoma classification and pioneered autologous transplant for lymphoma, a tradition continued by Julie Vose. The pancreatic cancer programme under Michael Hollingsworth holds an NCI SPORE and coordinates early-detection consortia on mucins and biomarkers. Rural outreach across the Great Plains is a defining feature of its catchment.
