University of Maryland Marlene and Stewart Greenebaum Comprehensive Cancer Center

aka UMGCCC

Baltimore's second NCI comprehensive centre, with the Maryland Proton Treatment Center and the GammaPod breast radiotherapy system invented on campus.

NCI-designated in 2008 and comprehensive since 2016, the Greenebaum Comprehensive Cancer Center serves Baltimore and the state of Maryland alongside Johns Hopkins. Radiation oncology is a signature strength: the Maryland Proton Treatment Center opened in 2016, and the GammaPod, a stereotactic radiotherapy device for breast cancer, was invented at the University of Maryland. The centre runs a large blood and marrow transplant programme and early engineered T-cell trials in myeloma, and studies cancer disparities in Baltimore's Black population.
