A US National Cancer Institute network, started in 2017, that grows patients' tumours in mice to test combinations of cancer drugs before they go into human trials, and shares the models and data with other researchers.
The NCI launched PDXNet in September 2017 to accelerate translational research using patient-derived xenograft (PDX) datasets, and renewed it in 2023. The network comprises six PDX Development and Trial Centers and the PDX Data Commons and Coordinating Center (PDCCC), and works with the NCI Patient-Derived Model Repository so that data are collected and provided in a standard format; together they test multi-agent treatments in PDX studies and advance them to human clinical trials. The PDCCC, whose team the network names as from The Jackson Laboratory, provides the administrative and computational infrastructure for method standardisation, model sharing and large-scale analysis. The site lists the awards: U24-CA224067 for the coordinating centre, and U54-CA224076, U54-CA224083, U54-CA224070, U54-CA283759, U54-CA283766 and U54-CA283762 for the development and trial centres.
