The US National Cancer Institute's cloud system that holds cancer research data from many funded studies, from tumour genetics to scans, and lets researchers search and analyse it without downloading it all.
The NCI describes the CRDC as a cloud-based data science infrastructure that provides secure access to a large and expanding collection of cancer research data contributed by NCI and NIH-funded researchers, with tools for analysis and visualisation in the cloud. Its data commons are the Genomic Data Commons (harmonised genomic data including TCGA, TARGET and CPTAC), the Proteomic Data Commons (CPTAC and the International Cancer Proteogenome Consortium), the Imaging Data Commons, the Integrated Canine Data Commons (including the PRECINCT canine immunotherapy trials and the Comparative Oncology Program), the Clinical and Translational Data Commons, the Population Science Data Commons and a General Commons. Core services are the Cancer Data Aggregator for querying across commons, the Data Commons Framework for authentication, authorisation and permanent identifiers, and the Seven Bridges Cancer Genomics Cloud developed by Velsera. A single CRDC Submission Portal supports data sharing under the NIH Data Management and Sharing Policy. The NCI Moonshot page lists its construction among the Moonshot's accomplishments.
