A Delhi-based patient support society for people with sarcoma, GIST, desmoid tumours, melanoma and chordoma, offering counselling, a helpline, medicines and help with scans and accommodation.
Sachin Sarcoma Society is a patient support group and registered cancer society started on 5 January 2018. Its members, all survivors, patients or carers, met at a sarcoma seminar organised by Dr Sameer Rastogi, a sarcoma specialist at AIIMS New Delhi who is its patron. It is named after Sachin Yadav, who had pulmonary artery sarcoma and died during treatment.
The society reports a network of more than 8,500 sarcoma patients and carers, plus groups for desmoid tumour, GIST, melanoma and chordoma. It gives counselling, a 24-hour helpline, equipment such as wheelchairs and walkers, medicines and free scans for poorer patients, and help finding accommodation near hospitals. It is 80G approved, so Indian donors can claim tax relief.
