Shanghai Chest Hospital
One of the highest-volume thoracic oncology hospitals in the world, home to the Shanghai Lung Cancer Center and many of China's EGFR and ALK inhibitor trials.
Founded in 1957 as China's first specialist chest hospital, Shanghai Chest performs a very large number of lung and oesophageal operations each year and houses the Shanghai Lung Cancer Center directed by Shun Lu. Its investigators have led Chinese registration trials of EGFR, ALK and ROS1 inhibitors and PD-1 combinations, and contributed to the global osimertinib, lorlatinib and amivantamab programmes. Thoracic surgery, oesophageal cancer, thymic tumours and interventional bronchoscopy are core strengths, with robotic and uniportal video-assisted surgery widely used. The hospital is a national clinical research centre for respiratory disease.
