Velindre Cancer Centre
Wales's specialist non-surgical cancer centre, providing radiotherapy and systemic therapy for south-east Wales and hosting the Wales Cancer Research Centre.
Velindre Cancer Centre, part of Velindre University NHS Trust, has provided specialist cancer treatment in Cardiff since 1956 and is the tertiary radiotherapy and medical oncology centre for south-east Wales. With Cardiff University it hosts the Wales Cancer Research Centre and the Wales Cancer Trials Unit, which coordinates UK and international trials in lung, colorectal, prostate and rare cancers, and works with the Wales Research and Diagnostic PET Imaging Centre. A new Velindre Cancer Centre is being built to expand radiotherapy, stereotactic and clinical trials capacity. The trust also runs the Welsh Blood Service and supports outreach clinics across the region.
