The validation of a 12-gene recurrence score in stage II colon cancer, using tumour samples from the QUASAR trial.
In 1,436 patients with stage II colon cancer from QUASAR, three-year recurrence risks were 12, 18 and 22 per cent for the predefined low, intermediate and high recurrence risk groups. The abstract states that the treatment score was not predictive of chemotherapy benefit.
The score separates recurrence risk after surgery but does not pick out who gains from chemotherapy.
