Alan D. D'Andrea
Mapped the Fanconi anaemia/BRCA DNA repair pathway and how tumours become resistant to PARP inhibitors.
Overview
Alan D'Andrea's laboratory defined the Fanconi anaemia pathway and its convergence with BRCA1/2 in homologous recombination, and has led the field's understanding of PARP inhibitor resistance mechanisms including restoration of replication fork protection and loss of 53BP1. He directs women's cancers and DNA repair research at Dana-Farber and has translated these findings into trials of ATR and DNA-PK inhibitor combinations.
