Alessandro Delle Donne leads the IRCCS Istituto Tumori Giovanni Paolo II in Bari, the Puglia region's research cancer institute. Regional news reports in March and July 2024 describe him as Direttore Generale, appointing Vito Campanile as health director and a new head of medical oncology, and a November 2025 report names him Commissario Straordinario of the institute, receiving an award for artificial intelligence in healthcare in Arezzo together with scientific director Raffaella Massafra. In that report he described AI applied to diagnostic pathways and research as one of the most important challenges for the healthcare of the future.
