Massimo De Fino is Direttore Generale of the IRCCS CROB (Centro di Riferimento Oncologico della Basilicata) in Rionero in Vulture, the Basilicata region's research cancer institute. His appointment was announced on 22 November 2023 by regional president Vito Bardi and vice president Francesco Fanelli after a public selection procedure, and he formally took up the post in December 2023, having previously worked in the Basilicata health service. Regional news coverage in August 2026 of the confirmation of the institute's IRCCS scientific status still describes CROB as led by director Massimo De Fino.
