Cancer surgeon who heads Peru's national cancer institute, INEN, after more than two decades as an abdominal surgeon there.
Overview
Francisco Berrospi Espinoza is Jefe Institucional of the Instituto Nacional de Enfermedades Neoplásicas (INEN), Peru's national cancer institute in Lima. He trained in medicine at the Universidad Nacional de Trujillo, specialised in general and oncological surgery at the Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia and holds a master's degree in health services management from ESAN. He has been an attending surgeon in INEN's Abdominal Surgery Department since 2000 and previously directed the institute's surgery department; his clinical focus is gastrointestinal and hepato-pancreato-biliary cancer surgery. He was designated Jefe Institucional by Resolución Suprema 016-2022-SA in August 2022.
