Overview
Rebecca Auer is Executive Vice-President, Research and Innovation at The Ottawa Hospital and a Senior Scientist in cancer research at the Ottawa Hospital Research Institute, the not-for-profit corporation that fulfils the hospital's research mission. A surgical oncologist, her research examines how surgery promotes metastasis through the coagulation and immune systems and tests perioperative interventions, including low molecular weight heparin trials in colorectal surgery patients and oncolytic vaccinia virus therapy for metastatic colorectal cancer. She has led multicentre trials funded by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research.
