Endocrine surgeon who leads Rambam Health Care Campus, the largest hospital in northern Israel, after nearly three decades at the institution.
Overview
Dr Michal Mekel is Director General of Rambam Health Care Campus in Haifa, the tertiary referral hospital for northern Israel. She trained at the Technion Faculty of Medicine, became Israel's first endocrine surgeon in 2009 and developed the specialty nationally, and moved into management in 2013 before appointment as Deputy Director in 2017 and then to the top role. She leads a management team including deputy directors for medical operations, paediatrics, surgery and hospitalisation logistics.
