Gabriel N. Hortobagyi
Breast oncologist who led MONALEESA-2, the first CDK4/6 trial to show an overall survival gain in first-line HR-positive disease.
Overview
Gabriel Hortobagyi has run breast cancer trials at MD Anderson for four decades and was principal investigator of MONALEESA-2, which showed ribociclib plus letrozole improves progression-free and then overall survival in postmenopausal HR-positive advanced breast cancer. He has chaired ASCO and helped write the AJCC staging system for breast cancer. His work continues on endocrine resistance and adjuvant CDK4/6 inhibition.
