Overview
Jan van Lanschot led the Dutch CROSS trial showing neoadjuvant carboplatin, paclitaxel and radiotherapy followed by surgery nearly doubles median survival compared with surgery alone in oesophageal and junctional cancer, a regimen adopted worldwide. He then led the SANO trial of active surveillance after complete clinical response, opening organ preservation in oesophageal cancer.
