Zonghai Li
Zonghai Li moved CAR-T therapy from blood cancers into stomach cancer, founding CARsgen and developing satri-cel, the first CAR-T approved for a solid tumour.
Overview
At the Shanghai Cancer Institute Li developed GPC3-directed CAR-T for liver cancer and the Claudin 18.2 CAR-T CT041, whose phase 1 results (Nature Medicine 2022) and randomised phase 2 trial in gastric cancer led to NMPA approval as satricabtagene autoleucel in 2025; CARsgen's fully human BCMA CAR-T zevorcabtagene autoleucel was approved in 2024. He founded CARsgen in 2014 and listed it in Hong Kong in 2021.
